The Streetknit Project at Pucks N’ Purls

Every year people in Toronto freeze in the cold because they have nowhere to go.  We can’t provide shelter, but we as knitters can provide warmth to those in need as well as the reassurance that they have not been forgotten.  The Streetknit Project turns donated yarns, both wool and synthetic, into hats, mitts, sweaters, socks and scarves to be distributed to shelters and agencies across the GTA.  Through the efforts of volunteer knitters and the businesses who act as drop off sites for finished garments, Streetknit continues to provide well over a thousand garments annually to those most in need.

Everyone can be part of this movement!  If you have yarn or woolies you can donate to make this winter a little warmer for someone, please bring them along to Pucks N’ Purls. where there will be a drop off zone for donations.
For those interested in finding out more about Streetknit, they are on Facebook as well as at www.streetknit.ca.  Angels really do walk among us.
